Washington Pediatricians for Climate Action is a group dedicated to raising awareness of the impacts of climate change on children's health. Climate change is the most significant public health threat of the 21st century, and we believe that pediatricians have a crucial part to play in highlighting the dangers of climate change and advocating for solutions. We believe in these core principles:
More than 97% of climate scientists are convinced that human-caused climate change is happening
​Polluted air, water, and climate change hurt our children's health, and this will become much worse if we do not act
​Everyone can take steps to protect our children's health and our climate
Major medical societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, have declared a climate health emergency and have called for physicians to raise their voices to protect our patients. Children deserve to grow up on a planet as stable as the one in which the rest of us did. So let’s get to work. The world needs saving.
